HOLD button is used to place internal and/or external callers on hold.
Placing a caller on hold connects them to a single music-on-hold source. Attendent
console operators cannot be placed on hold by any internal telephone.

the caller they are being placed on hold simply...

To retrieve a caller from being placed on hold simply...
Press the line key where they were left on hold <or> from another telephone station
use the ...
Note that after leaving a caller on hold for three minutes the call will
ring back to that station.
